SQ3R: A Reading Technique
How to Hit the Books

SQ3R stands for Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review. It is a proven technique to sharpen textbook reading skills. In college, you'll frequently be assigned multiple chapters for several different courses in books that can be quite complicated. SQ3R helps make reading purposeful and meaningful, so that you use your time most effectively. Here's how this strategy works.

**Survey**
Get an idea of what the chapter is about by reviewing the highlights:

*Read the title, headings, and subheadings.
*Take note of words that are italicized or bold.
*Look at charts, graphs, pictures, maps, and other visual material.
*Read captions.
*Read the very beginning and end of the chapter.

**Question**
As you survey the text, ask a question for each section. Ask what, why, how, when, who and where questions as they relate to the content. Here's how you can create questions:
*Turn the title, headings, or subheadings into questions.
*Rewrite the questions at the end of the chapter or after each subheading in your own words.
Write down your questions. Questions help you pay attention, understand the text better, and recall the information more easily later on.

**Read**
Read one section of a chapter at a time, actively looking for an answer to your question for that section. Pay attention to bold and italicized text that authors use to make important points. Be sure to review everything in the section, including tables, graphs, and illustrations, as these features can communicate an idea more powerfully than written text.

**Recite**
At the end of each section, look up from the text and in your own words recite an answer to your question for that section. Then write down your answer. Be sure to provide examples that support it.
Now repeat the Question, Read, and Recite steps for each section of the chapter or assigned reading. First ask a question for the next section. Then read to find the answer. Finally, recite the answer in your own words and jot it down. The written questions and answers will help you study in the future.

**Review**
After completing each chapter or reading assignment, review your notes. Identify the main points of the reading by looking for the most important idea in each section. Recite, or write, a brief summary of the chapter or assignment.
Review your study notes every week to help you remember the information. When it's time to study for your tests, you'll find you've created an invaluable guide.

Title : Lost in Time
Aim : To practice and motivate the students to develop their reading skills
Level :The intermediate students
Time : 60 minutes.
Technical Requirement :
Hardware: 2-3 students per computer; an Internet connection
Software: A Web Browser
Preparation : The teacher prepares reading maze "Lost in time" website for the students.
Procedure:
1. Explain the students how to use the maze on the Internet.
2. Divide the class into small groups that each group consists of 2-3 students.
3. Ask the students to read the maze that it is about finding Marcus.Then, the teacher asks the students in each group to select one of the moments that they interested in and try to discuss and answer the questions in each moment together.
4. Then, each group makes understanding about the maze and present what's happen in each moment and how to solve the problems in front of class.
5. The teacher gives the assignment to the students to make their own mazes that consist of interesting questions by imitating from the "Lost in time" and present their assignments next time.
Follow up: The students can make understanding and answer the questions about the maze. In addition, they can know about the tourist attractions in the world that appear on the reading maze. Moreover, they can make the reading mazes and present it to the class by themselves.
Notes: The teacher may encourage the students to make their own mazes that it may be about the tourist attraction that they have ever been.

I think that if I use the activities with my learners, the problems will occur. These problems are about the vocabularies that the students don’t understand and they can’t do these activities. Moreover, they will bore and don’t like to do activities.



5. What can you do to solve the problem?
I think I will teach them about the new and difficult vocabularies that they don’t know before they read each passage.

เมื่อวันก่อนอาจารย์ให้ลองเขียนแผนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษ ก็เลยเลือกเขียนเรื่อง between กับ among ซึ่งมีใจความดังนี้

between แปลว่า ระหว่าง ใช้เชื่อมความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างของสองสิ่งสองอย่าง และมี and มาใช้ร่วมเสมอ
เช่น The girl stands between a dog and a cat.

among แปลว่า ระหว่าง ใช้เชื่อมระหว่างหรือท่ามกลางของมากกว่าสองสิ่งสองอย่างขึ้นไป โดยไม่ใช้ ร่วมกับ and
เช่น The girl stands among her friends.

เพื่อนๆเข้าใจมั้ยคะ ง่ายใช่มั้ยละ (เพราะเป็นเนื้อหาที่ใช้สอนเด็กมัธยม) แต่รู้ไว้ก็ไม่เสียหลายนะ

หลังจากสูญเสียคุณแม่ไปด้วยโรคเกี่ยวกับเลือด "ปรีติ บารมีอนันต์" หรือ "แบงค์ แคลช" ก็ลุกขึ้นยืนได้อีกครั้ง ด้วยกำลังใจจากครอบครัวและแฟนคลับทุกคน โดยเฉพาะแฟนสาว "นินิว" ที่อยู่เคียงข้างตลอดเวลา

แบงค์ : ดีขึ้นครับ ดูแลตัวเองรักครอบครัว จากเมื่อก่อนผมไม่ค่อยได้คุยกับพ่อ ผู้ชายอ่ะ คุยกันมันก็มีคุยกันได้ไม่กี่เรื่อง เรื่องการเมือง ฟุตบอล ใครถูกใครผิด ตอนเช้ามาดูข่าว พอไม่มีแม่ มันก็มีข้อดี ข้อเสีย ข้อดีคือ เราได้คุยกัน ในเรื่องที่ผมคุยกับแม่ เมื่อก่อนนะ กลับบ้านจะโทรหาแม่ แต่เดี๋ยวนี้โทรหาพ่อ แต่มันคนละอารมณ์กัน เขาก็รู้นะครับ ว่าผมทำงานหนัก 6-7 ปี ติดต่อกันแล้ว ทุกคนชินแล้ว ไม่มีปัญหาอะไร

มีคนดูแล ?

แบงค์ : มีแม่บ้านมา แต่ปกติ แม่เขาดูแลเรื่องค่าใช้จ่ายมากกว่า แต่ช่วงแม่ป่วย น้องของผมก็สะสมไปเรื่อยๆ คือ ตอนแม่ป่วยอยู่ น้องก็ไปจ่ายค่าโทรศัพท์ ค่าน้ำ ค่าไฟ อยู่แล้ว ให้น้องทำไป ก็มีญาติๆ มาช่วยเหลือบ้าง นินิวก็ดูกันแบบบุฟเฟ่ต์ครับ คือ ดูแลตัวเองกันไป ทำงานกันไป แต่ถึงเวลาว่างเราเจอกัน เขาเข้าใจว่าเรามีงาน ก็คุยแล้วรู้เรื่อง บางทีเขาก็มาดูแลเราไม่ได้เต็มที่หรอก เพราะเขาก็ต้องมีธุระของเขา ไม่สามารถดูแลได้อย่างเต็มตัว ก็จะคอยช่วยเหลือ

คิดที่จะแต่งงานหรือยัง

แบงค์ : ยังครับ แต่ถ้าแต่งงานจะแถลงข่าวเลย คือ ตอนนี้ยังไม่ถึงเวลาครับผม ผมยังไม่ 24 เลยนะ หน้าผมแก่เฉยๆ เชื่อผมหน่อยเถอะครับ ใกล้เบญจเพสแล้วแต่ผมไม่เชื่อนะ ถ้าเป็นอีสุกอีใส ใช่เบญจเพสหรือเปล่าไม่แน่ใจ ไม่อยากจะมากำหนดว่าจะแต่งงานเมื่อไร บางคนกำหนดว่า แต่งงานตอน 30 มันหนักใจเปล่าๆ บางคน 30 แล้วยังไม่คุยเรื่องนี้เลย คุยเรื่องงานดีกว่า ผู้หญิงอาจจะคิดทุกคน แต่บอกแล้วไง ผมเลี้ยงแบบบุฟเฟ่ต์ แบงค์กล่าว (www.sanook.com)

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep This temple is Chiang Mai 's most important and visible landmark , and overlooks the city from its forested mountain backdrop. Wat Phra That Doi Supthep is 15 kiloemtres from town, 3520 feet above sea level , and dates from 1383. The temple is approached on foot by climbing a stiip Naga staircase comprising 290 steps. the less energetic may ascend by funicular railcars. The temple's golden pagoda contains holy Buddha relics, and attracts Buddhist pilgrims from all over the world throughout the year. The timple compound offers an exhilarating view of Chiang Mai city and surrounding countryside.
Phu Phing Palace This is located on the same road , beyond Wat Phra That Doi Suthip , on Doi Buak Ha,22 kilometres from town. The royal winter palace was built in 1962. The lavishly landscaped gardens and grounds are open to the general public on Fridays , Saturday and Sundays, and official holidaky , when the Thai royal family is not in residence.
Doi Pui Tribal Village This Mis tribal village is some 4 kilometres from the Phu Phing Palace, and offers vignettes of modern tirbal life.
Pha Dam ( Black Cliff ) This area near Wat Phra That Doi Suthhip Comprises a scenic spot ideal for picnics.
